Local content & local advertising for local markets
![]() |
With fragmented markets and the decline of mainstream media, the industry has seen a surge in members of communities producing local content themselves by using a host of web 2.0 tools, such as blogs, social networking sites and video. This indicates a strong need for such content, and news publishers, once the heart of their communities, now have the perfect opportunity to re-connect with their audiences and provide them with relevant, local content, that they so eagerly desire.
Call for entries 2010 - Your ‘local’ project
The WAN-IFRA XMA Cross Media Awards Jury are looking for news publishers that have succeeded in delivering relevant local content. This can be in the form of news/services or advertising content.
The Awards Jury is interested to see how your company has:
- determined what type of content to offer
- built relationships with the ‘local’ market
- empowered their audience to help create content
- published content using different print & multimedia channels
- worked together with advertisers to create local campaigns
If your ‘local’ project meets at least two or more of these points, WAN-IFRA are interested in hearing from you.
How to submit your project
Once you have registered, you will be provided with online log-in details to our website, which will enable you to upload all relevant documents presenting your ‘local’ project.
What type of documents to upload
Please upload PDF documents of all the elements that make up your cross-media ‘local’ project. For example, screenshots of websites or mobile messages, print page designs, url links to video and audio, plus a written description of your project.
More information about this will be provided upon registration.
Deadline for entries
All entries must be received by 15th June 2010
How big is a ‘local’ market?
Each publilsher’s local market differs in size. The challenge, however, remains the same for everyone - becoming the No.1 resource for news, information and advertising opportunities for the community you serve. Regardless of whether your local market is a city of more than 1 million inhabitants, or a village with a population of fewer than 1000, you have the opportunity to enter and the chance to be recognised as a winner of the XMA Cross Media Awards 2010.
